عَنْ مُعَاذِ قَالَ : إذَا ابْتَلَى اللهُ الْعَبْدَ بِالسَّقَمِ قَالَ لِصَاحِبِ الشِّمَالِ ارْفَعْ وَقَالَ لِصَاحِبِ الْيَمِينِ اكْتُبْ لِعَبْدِي مَا كَانَ يَعْمَلُ

ابن أبي شيبة ، المصنَّف

Mu’adh [ibn Jabal] رضي الله تعالى عنه said:

When Allah tests the servant with illness, He says to the angel on his left side: ‘Stop recording [his bad deeds]’ and He says to the angel on his right side: ‘Write for my servant the good deeds he used to do’.

Even in illness, there is reward. Reward in the patience that we bear, a means of our sins being wiped away, and (as above) deeds being written on our behalf - which ultimately elevates our rank in Paradise.
