عَنْ أُبَي بِنْ كَعْبٍ قَالَ : مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ تَرَكَ شَيْئًا للهِ إِلَّا أَبْدَ لَهُ اللهُ بِهِ مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ ُحَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ

وكيع بن الجراح ، كتاب الزهد

‘Ubayy bin Ka’b رضي الله تعالى عنه is reported to have said:

No servant [of Allah] leaves something for the sake of Allah, except that Allah shall substitute it for him with that which is better, from a source he does not expect.
